Rocky Doge Origin Story
Rocky Doge is rooted in a heartbreaking story. Thomas Hardinger (or as we lovingly call him, Papa Tom) worked his whole life in the Manufacturing Field in a prominent Aerospace Company. But, when the pandemic came, like most of his colleagues Tom was let go from his job. After working for 23 years in the same field, Tom didn’t have the ability to quickly switch to another job and even then no one was hiring.
This was the time period when Crypto was starting to rise. After hearing all the news about Crypto Currency and seeing all these people talk about making money on Crypto Currencies, Tom decided to invest his savings into Crypto Currency. Even though he tried his best to do his own research, there wasn’t anyone to teach him how to read a contract, check transactions or to show him what are the red flags to look for in a token to identify legitimate tokens from scams. He thought the ones that showed the most gain percentage or had the best marketing and influencers with a lot of following was the best way to go.
What Tom and many other newcomers didn’t know was that it was easier for rich scammers to get their tokens trending. All they had to do was spend a few grand and the companies would advertise their tokens everywhere.
The token Tom invested on turned out to be what is commonly known as a Rug Pull. The developers waited till the coin had substantial amount of Liquidity Pooled and they pulled it out. Tom and thousands of others were left with millions of tokens that had no value. The scammers moved onto their next one using the money they scammed from Tom and other victims to promote another project.
The story so far has been heartbreaking, not because Tom and the others lost money they invested, because they lost money to a scam due to not having a proper understanding of hoe Crypto Currencies work behind the scenes. DYOR or Do Your Own Research is the cautionary phrase in Crypto Currency. But, to do their own research, one has to have an understanding of how Crypto Currencies really work from the code to the launch.
This is why Tom and other victims of such scams got together to do what they can to help the community. They worked hard to create a team of developers who can be trusted, is honest and willing to do good for the community.
